Profit Helix
The most recent brand before the current run, and the one most often mistaken for an alternative to it. It is not an alternative. It is a different business with a different first step.
Where it falls
After the search-and-content era, before the current annual Commission Cycle run. It belongs to the period when Skool-style communities and own-product memberships became a realistic solo business.
What it teaches
Building and selling your own digital products: course design, pricing, the membership model, delivery and community. You are the product owner throughout.
The two calendars
| Week | Own-product route | Affiliate route |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Outlining | Posting |
| 2 | Recording | First replies |
| 4 | Building delivery | List forming |
| 8 | Launch, to whoever is listening | Known conversion rate |
| After | Support continues indefinitely | Stops when posting stops |
The bottom row is the one discovered late. One of these routes ends; the other acquires obligations that outlast your interest in it.
Why week 8 favours one of them
Not margin. Information. At week eight the affiliate route has told you what a real audience responds to and the own-product route has told you what you guessed in week one. The second is more expensive to be wrong about, and you find out later.
Which course fits which situation is covered here.
The obligation nobody prices in
Owning a product means owning the people who bought it. Questions at eleven at night, refunds, a platform outage on the day of a live call, someone who has not logged in for three months and wants their money back.
None of that is difficult in isolation. All of it continues whether or not you feel like running the business that week, and that continuity is the actual difference between the two models. An affiliate who stops posting owes nobody anything.
When people pick this one by mistake
Usually because it sounds more serious. Building your own thing feels like the grown-up version and promoting someone else's feels like a stepping stone, so people reach past the step they are on. The result is a product with no audience, built over two months, and the discovery comes too late to be cheap.
Which one fits which situation is logged here.
Is it a live decision this month
Not on this desk's calendar. The dated decision is the one that closes 24 September 2026, 11:59pm Pacific, and it is the affiliate one. The dates are here. The review of Profit Helix itself is here.
